| Our founders, Bob Funk and Bill Stoller, have been working together since before Express began. Together, they worked at a staffing company called Acme Personnel. Along with partner James Gray, they purchased the company after the death of its president. Soon, Express was born.
They moved the company’s headquarters from Washington to Oklahoma City and quickly decided to franchise. Passionate about the idea that a company works best when it rewards the people who build it, Bob and Bill wanted to do more than just grow a successful business – they wanted to help people succeed – a theme that still characterizes their business today.

And through a franchising model, they were able to do just that.
The company quickly became profitable and has been growing ever since. Within five years, Express ranked among the top personnel firms in the United States and was recognized as one of the fastest growing privately-held companies in the country. In 1990, Bob and Bill purchased their partner’s shares of the company.
In our 25-year history, Express has become an industry leader, reaching the $2 billion mark in sales in 2007. Through Bob and Bill’s passion for the franchising model, they have built something that truly helps people succeed – including our franchisees. In fact, our franchisees believe in Express so much, they have helped establish us as a truly world class franchisor.
